“Superbad” Kip Sabian (accompanied by Penelope Ford) vs. “The American Nightmare” Cody (with Arn Anderson, the head coach of “The Nightmare Family”).

Sabian came straight out the gates with a shotgun dropkick, and then a gut buster on Cody! A pump kick from Cody sent Sabian out of the ring. The arena was chanting, “Let’s go Cody!” The two men began trading strikes outside of the ring, with Cody accidentally knocking down Penelope Ford.

Cody picked up Penelope Ford and apologized profusely, as she was motionless in his arms. Sabian took advantage of the opportunity, kicking Cody right in the mush. Penelope had been playing possum the entire time!

Back in the ring, Cody was able to get the upper hand with a running clothesline and a power slam! Cody felt the adrenaline from the crowd and hit a disaster kick on Kip Sabian. Before the referee could count the pin, Penelope Ford tossed her boot into the ring. The ref accused Arn Anderson of throwing the boot. Arn was offended by this, and confronted the AEW official inside the ring, who then booted Arn Anderson from the match.

While Cody was accessing the situation, Ford, from out of nowhere, used a huracarana on him. Sabian followed up with a dive onto “The American Nightmare!” Penelope and Sabian, the “Superbad” power couple, went to lock lips in celebration, but unbeknownst to them, the “Badboy” Joey Janela was front row. He popped up and flipped them off!

As Sabian was distracted by Janela, out came Cody with a tope suicida! “The American Nightmare” tried to follow up but was hung out to dry as Sabian planted him onto the mat. Both men battled it out on the top turnbuckle. Sabian was knocked down from a head butt, but quickly jumped back up like a cat onto the top rope and threw Cody down. Sabian executed his Deathly Hollow’s finisher, but it wasn’t enough to stop Cody! There was an intense “Cody Cutter,” and then Cody used three consecutive trips down the CrossRhodes for the victory!

“The American Nightmare” Cody’s music blasted! Cody confidently strolled down to the ring, and MJF freaked out.

Cody entered the ring and got right in MJF’s face. “Stop right there,” said MJF. “There’s a reason Wardlow isn’t here. You can’t touch me, Cody, can you? No matter what I say, no matter what I do, you can’t lay a finger on me.” MJF feigned giving the microphone to Cody, and as Cody went for it, MJF dropped it to the mat.

“I can’t touch you, Max, but they can.” Max turned around on the ramp and was greeted by stereo superkicks from the Young Bucks. The Bucks proceeded to toss MJF right into the pool!

“The American Nightmare” Cody came out next to give his response to MJF’s match stipulations.

“Double A, Arn Anderson was right, when he said the audience wants this match,” Cody said. “MJF named his price for this match, and it’s rather expensive.”

Regarding the potential of a steel cage match against Wardlow, Cody said: “I think Max is afraid that the audience might come to the conclusion that perhaps Wardlow shouldn’t be carrying MJF’s bags but perhaps, MJF should be carrying Wardlow’s.”

Regarding the stipulation that he cannot touch Max until REVOLUTION, Cody said: “I don’t need to touch you, MJF. I live rent free inside that head. I think everybody knows what you are doing—you are stalling!”

“When it comes to your stipulation of the steel cage…I accept. When it comes to not touching you until REVOLUTION? I accept. And when it comes to ten lashes live on DYNAMITE? I accept. And I know what it means to have this match at REVOLUTION: it means that I have failed as a mentor, but perhaps I can teach you one final lesson. At REVOLUTION I am going to give you your own g—damn scar!”

ony Schiavone joined Cody, Dustin Rhodes, and Arn Anderson in the ring.

“What do you say to all the challenges that MJF has put in front of you, Cody?” asked Schiavone.

Arn Anderson pulled away the microphone from Schiavone. “Let me interrupt,” said the Enforcer. “Somebody died and made MJF God and I don’t know about it? One thing I know for sure. We’re going to talk about it this week and we’ll get back to you.”

“The American Nightmare” Cody (accompanied by the head coach of “the Nightmare Family”, “the Enforcer” Arn Anderson) vs. Darby Allin began tonight’s program.

Darby was fired up tonight! Both men locked up, but Cody hit Darby with consecutive shoulder tackles. It wasn’t long before both men tried for a quick victory with pinning exchanges. Darby ducked a lariat attempt, went for the Coffin Drop, which Cody countered by manhandling Darby, and tossed Darby into the corner turnbuckles. From the outside, Darby swept Cody’s legs, forcing him to land shoulder first on the ring apron. Darby connected with a tope suicida on Cody’s shoulder, and then rammed Cody’s left arm into the ring post.

Cody delivered a swift kick to Darby’s head, and then put Darby into the figure four. Darby forced the break by touching the ropes. Cody was clutching his arm, and Darby kicked Cody into the corner again. Darby worked over Cody with a double arm bar.

Darby was relentless in his attack. He tore off the pad from one of the turnbuckles, but Cody hit Darby with a power slam. Cody came back with a Cody-cutter on his opponent. Darby kicked out from a top rope Cross Rhodes!

Darby went for a Coffin Drop, but Cody, listening to Arn Anderson, who was on the outside of the ring, lifted up his knees. Darby crashed down on Cody’s knees, and Cody was finally able to score the pin fall!

The Butcher & The Blade (with The Bunny) vs. “The American Nightmare” Cody & Darby Allin.

The Butcher and Darby locked up, and the Butcher tossed Darby like a sack of potatoes. The Blade was tagged in, and Darby, showing his speed and agility, kicked Butcher to the outside and used an arm drag on the Blade.

Cody tried a single leg takedown on the Butcher, but he was out powered, and then knocked inside out with a clothesline. Cody began to get some momentum and again, the Butcher outmuscled the competition. The Blade was brought in for some impressive tandem offense on Cody. The Butcher and the Blade were running roughshod on Cody! Darby was pacing on the ring apron, as Cody tried for a tag, only to be stopped in his tracks by the Butcher.

Finally Cody got the tag to Darby, and he hit a Code Red on Blade, but Butcher was the legal man, so the ref couldn’t count the pin fall. The Butcher had a Texas cloverleaf locked in on Darby. Darby slithered away and went over the top, hitting a stunner on the Butcher! Cody was tagged in and hit his CrossRhodes on the Butcher, but the Bunny distracted the ref, preventing the pin fall attempt! Darby and Cody, frustrated, his stereo topes on the Butcher and the Blade!

Cody hit the Disaster Kick on the Butcher! Darby hit the Coffin Drop on the Butcher, and Cody nailed the Cody Cuter on the Blade for the victory!

After some impressive double team maneuvers from the Butcher and the Blade, the Butcher began using his size advantage to work over QT Marshall.

“The American Nightmare” Cody came out to the ring to address the AEW faithful. Tony Schiavone was waiting in the ring to get Cody’s thoughts.

Cody said he is ready for Butcher and the Blade, and when they want to have a match, he’ll even let them pick his tag partner. Cody called his former best friend MJF a bootleg version of Chris Jericho. Cody offered the keys to his car, the wristwatch that Tony Khan gave him, even his Louis Vuitton shoes, if MJF would wrestle him. “The American Nightmare” Cody made his in-ring return tonight against Matt Knicks!

Cody was quick to sweep out Knicks’ legs. Cody hit a cutter off the middle rope, and then forced Knicks to tap when he applied the figure four leg lock. This one was all academic for Cody tonight.

On the mic, Cody called out MJF, but there was no sign of his former best friend. Suddenly the wrestling ring was sliced from underneath the mat. Rising to attack an unsuspecting Cody was the duo known as “The Butcher and the Blade,” who were accompanied by “The Bunny.” Cody had to be helped to the back.

The match for the AEW World Championship was next: “The American Nightmare” Cody (accompanied by his best friend, MJF) vs. AEW World Champ Chris Jericho (escorted by “Big Hurt” Jake Hager).

Dean Malenko, Arn Anderson, and the Great Muta, were the ringside judges, should the match go the distance and need the decision. Cody’s mother, Michelle, was sitting in the front row.

Cody was busted wide open early on after landing on the steel entrance ramp. There was concern that referee Aubrey Edwards would stop the match. Jericho approached Michelle Rhodes, who slapped the champ. Cody hit a spear on Jericho, and then a waterwheel spinebuster drop (“Alabama Slam”) on the champ for the two-count. Cody let out a “Wooo!” and applied a figure-four to Jericho. The champ reversed it into a variation of an Indian leg lock, but Cody reversed it again. Cody rolled up Jericho, but Jake Hager walloped Cody. Ref Aubrey Edwards sent Hager to the back, but not before Hager slammed MJF into the guardrail. While the ref was distracted outside, Jericho slammed the heavyweight championship into Cody’s skull for a two-count. Jericho went for the Judas Effect but Cody caught it and nailed Jericho with the CrossRhodes. The champ kicked out at two! The packed arena began to chant “This is awesome!” Both competitors began to slug it out while on their knees. Cody hit a bionic elbow on Jericho for a near fall. The crowd was now chanting “Cody! Cody! Cody!”

“The American Nightmare” went for the disaster kick but Jericho countered for a two-count. Jericho had the decided upper hand at this point in the match. Jericho was “dealing the cards” said Jim Ross. Jericho removed a leather weight belt and began whipping Cody with it. Cody went for a hurracarana from the top rope, but Jericho countered with the lion tamer. Cody made the long crawl to the ropes as Jericho sat back and wrenched the hold. The fans willed Cody to the ropes, forcing the ref to break the hold. Jericho again applied the lion tamer, and Cody’s corner man, MJF, threw in the towel to stop the match on behalf of Cody.

The Inner Circle came out with a little bit of the bubbly to celebrate with Le Champion. A bruised and battered Cody sat up in the ring, in disbelief and confused, as MJF tried to console him and apologize for throwing in the towel. MJF was on his knees begging for his best friend Cody’s forgiveness. Cody raised up MJF, but MJF returned the favor by betraying Cody and kicking him between the legs. MJF yelled “My turn!” over and over and walked out of the ring smiling.
